HAPPY 1.11.11

Not sure that this is a significant date or not... just kinda cool...but hope you are having a good one anyways. The boys had their first official snow day yesterday and COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!!! Dad, on the other hand, could've used a day off in general. The boys ran him ragged and he towed them behind our Rhino 4 wheeler for a day of fun snow sledding...
Not your average "snow sledding" right? It was much too snowy to hike out to the sled hill.... so Dad figured out the next best thing. The boys were in heaven.... I was FREEZING taking these pictures.... We have reached -10 in the past few days... BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Landon said it was the BEST invention EVEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

There goes Mason being pulled down the street.....

The snow shoveling hasn't stopped in 3 days... but the boys seem to love it.... Mason said he wants to do it for a living and get paid for it. :)

The Outdoor Sports Show 2011

Trafton helped out at the Elk Ranch booth this weekend at the Outdoor Sportsman Show in Denver. The boys had a great time!!! Here they are with some good horns....
And with the small little bear outside the convention center.....

We saw a cute little owl up close and personal....

Watched our good friend, Chad make his way into the pro round of the shooting tournament....

He is a great shot and we were so proud to be rooting him on!!!

And he represented the Elk Ranch very well!! :)

Mason and Landon went fishing and caught a fish within seconds really.....

Took in the latest in 2011 fishing couture style... man... this one took the cake....

Watched the "dock dogs" take some flying leaps into the water... they are so cute!!

And Landon with a trophy white tail.... this is the one his daddy wanted but it got away.... well... from him at least.... not from his buddy, Mike. :) And all of this was after a fun morning with my sweet friend Paulette...... here are the kids playing guitar hero with her first thing in the morning...

Happy Birthday Paulette!!! Come see us before you head back to Brazil!!

I just love this girl.... she is simply an amazing soul!!

That's it for the weekend update.... it is snowing here so I am going to try and get a little crafty today....hopefully.

WAH... I don't knit.....

I wish I did... but I don't. There are some seriously talented people that can... but I certainly can't... and all of these creations make me want to learn. Wordless Wednesday-Family December 2010 :)

Christmas Gifts

This was an altered wooden frame I did for our friend's daughter/our "daughter" too.... Devynn. She is 13 and has a more "sophisticated" bedroom now... So sad. But it matched well and she loved it. The paper is Prima as well as the flower. I glitter misted the heck out of the Eiffel Tower, key and white flower. It is purple and very glimmery. Added some glittery swirls and black rhinestones to the rest of it. Black tulle to finish the wire hanger....
This was really cuter in person. The colors from this Prima line was perfect for a teenage room. A quick Hello Kitty mini album for my sweet niece Ashley.... Just a little keepsake for her and her "girls". I made a Halloween album for my sister in-law Alison but totally forgot to take pictures of it... DUH.... just too busy this year!!

This is a letter "R" I altered for my Yankee loving nephew, Ryan.... I heard he was pretty excited about it.... PHEW..... The letter A for my niece Ashley.... she LOVES peace signs right now.

These are hand rolled fabric flowers that I made to put on top of the black tulle that I wrapped the A in.... I have several blisters to show for them too.

And those were a few of my hand made gifts. I have some cute trays to finish for some loved ones.... someday. Made a few calenders for the Hayne side too. So glad to use up some products. VERY fun stuff!

Randomness

Here was our New Year Day sunrise off of our deck.... yes... I was up THAT early.

The boys on Christmas Eve night.... they were so excited for Santa to come. Milk and cookies out....carrots for the reindeer.... and sugar high/crash after Candle Light service at church.... in bed by 9:30. And THAT was a miracle in itself.
Self portrait January 2011.... hopefully you haven't forgotten what I look like yet. And yes... that was New Year's Day... PJs and NO MAKE UP!!! December was a crazy month and all we did was veg for most of the day.... IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!

There are a couple of things that I want to do with this blog this year. I love the "Wordless Wednesdays" on most blogs. It is usually a picture that needs no words at all. Sometimes funny, sometimes touching, sometimes inexplicable.... we'll see where this takes us this year.

I also plan to post projects I do, kids crafts and just me trying to be artsy every once in a great while....

And this whole self portrait thingy.... I DISLIKE pictures of myself ...especially lately but should probably document somewhere in here that the boys' mommy ACTUALLY exists. So I am shooting for a couple of self portraits a month... we'll see if I can stay true to that one too!! :)
