Cute idea....

My Mom recently shared this etsy shop find with me and I thought these were so cute and simple to make. They say you can even use them as a shower curtain design but I thought they were cute just to hang up the kids artwork or a scrapbook layout... (something I plan to do as soon as these Vascular boards are over with!!). Enjoy the ideas and go check out the shop!

Leprechaun Trap!!

It all starts with a plan.... well... .and an assignment for school..... but Trafton and Landon drew a sketch of an elaborate leprechaun trap for his class. You see, the leprechauns have been playing tricks on the kindergartners for the past week. Knocking over their chairs while out at recess.... leaving crumbs from the classroom cookie jar.... trading name tags with other kids.... They are pretty tricky, ya know. ;)
So we set out to make a DEEEEEluxe trap for the little boogers.... After going to 6 different stores for gold coins....(must be a lot of leprechauns out right now)... we punched out circles out of cardboard. Landon started to paint them, then tricked Mom into the assembly line so that he would have more time to "glitter them up".
Here is the finished "bait" for the little naughty guys.

We painted the trap black and added the gold to the top. We glued it down GOOD so that they couldn't really take it.... (he was very concerned about this). We glued down felt scraps to make a grassy platform and made a sign. Landon drew the "FREE" on there...
A couple of views on the "trap door"....they will fall prey to this by the abundance of free gold on top....
then they will fall through the trap door as the greedy leprechaun takes the gold....
and you take a peek inside to see how many leprechauns you caught.... MU HA HA HA HA HA! (that was an evil laugh, by the way)
The trap door has been sprung... and another leprechaun succumbs to the ingenius trap!!
Sign your name on the back.....
And pose with your leprechaun trap and look VERY proud!!

He and Daddy are going to find some twigs and branches today to make a small ladder so they can climb up to get the free gold. Landon LOOOOOVED this assignment... I think he may try some art classes this summer. He thought of all the little bells and whistles on this thing. Down to the glittery shamrocks on the sides! He was raiding my scrap room for all sorts of goodies. :) I am gonna have to keep my eye on this kid!!!

Happy Birthday Mason!!!

It was exactly 9 years ago today, that Mason Trafton Hayne was born!!
He was always our happy little sunshiney baby... and today is still the same. Always happy and smiling and forever the little jokester....
He enjoys football, baseball, basketball and is an excellent student. He is a friend to everyone and always is quick to defend and befriend someone who is not having too good of a time with others. ;) He loves his dog Molly and is a wonderful older brother to Landon.
He loves God and will always pray for those in need. A sensitive soul and a silly character all in one little man!!
We are extremely proud of him and wish him another year of love, laughter and growth. Happy Birthday honey!!

Downright awful...

Sorry to say.... I was really hoping to like it.... my kids didn't even like it. Not one peep...no chuckle.... they just thought it was a strange movie.... but then again... Johnny Depp does some strange things.... but WOW.... I can sit through pretty much anything and this was torture. Which brings me to a HUUUUUGE pet peeve of mine. Why oh WHY do films for children have to SWEAR?!??!? Really? There were a few blatant swear words in this movie at pivotal moments... which then elicits a.... " **gasp** did you hear them Mom? They said the 'H' word!!! Did you HEAR him Mom?"

Seriously?

Landon then continues to repeat it all night and tell me that "Jake the Snake said it in Rango and that is a KID movie!!!" I just wish that for ONCE we could sit through a kiddo movie without having to explain things.... OK.... let me put my soapbox away... it was bad. Plain.old.BAD.

I am still here...

I apologize for the long break in blogging... I was doing SO good too. March has been a whirlwind of events.... let's see... taxes (ugh), Trafton away on 2 trips (AGH!), Mason started baseball again, baking for Mason's birthday events, planning a 9 year old bday party for Mason (can you say 25 kids?!?!?!) as well as working full time and taking call at the hospital.... Believe me when I say it has been B-U-S-Y..... oh yeah. And studying for a Vascular Technologist board... my last for a very long time... if EVER!! That day is coming up QUICK and there is just entirely too much information to consume... at least for this 36 year old brain. And is it really only the 10th?!?!? I feel like it should be April already! So I will try to be around for the next few weeks.... I am just on overload.... I have so many fun crafty things to do and never the time to do them. But someday...This is a pic of Landon and I as I sit here typing. So there I am... check out those bags under my eyes!! See? Not enough hours in the day... EVER.

A Beautiful Mess.....

Well Mr. Mason is turning NINE on Sunday.... don't EVEN let me get started on how sad that is.... I am glad he still likes to cuddle and talk every night.... he still needs me.... yeah.... for another year I hope!!
This is how the whole thing started.... 5 or 6 different colors of batter (2 boxes of white cake mix with food coloring added). I decided not to attempt the purple.... was already a long day as it stood.

Teaspoon the blue on the bottom....

Next goes the green

Yellow...

Orange.... then red....

This round was a bit TOO full.... making for some big ol' cupcakes... but the kids didn't mind. :)

This is a little better.... probably more like it, really....

Awwwww.... the birthday boy licking the spoons... the best part.

Pretty, huh?

Another sugar fiend....

This is what the cupcakes looked like on the inside!

I let the kids decorate and here is what they did:

And so 5 mixing bowls, 5 spoons, a dirty mixer, 4 spatulas and 36 cupcakes later, they made it to school today and were a hit. I hope Chance will get hers tomorrow.... as promised. ;)
